Spring Break

It is kinda sad but the main part of my spring break was eating. I just didn't stop, and that is absolutely terrible!!!

Food that was consumed:
- Chipotle (3 times)
- Panda Express (2 times)
- Smashburger (2 times)
- Great Egg
- Popos
- Movie popcorn
- Coldstone
- Juju Berry
- Cheesecake Factory
- Red Robin
- Mongolion Chicken (I made! :))
-Waffles provided by my mother :)
- Green Chili Burros (provided by my mother as my farewell dinner :))

It is pretty sad but there is probably more that I have forgotten. And if anyone is fearing for my figure.. Do not worry, I have checked my weight... Just for curiosity... I didn't gain :) Woot!

I did try to go out of town many times but each attempt was a miserable fail. So I ended up shopping a little bit. It was sad but I really couldn't find much. :| Ohhh well that is probably for the best!!!

Ohh.. How could I forget... I also observed for 10 hours at the elementary school I attended. It was stressful getting people to allow me to come but eventually I got a few who let me. I also ended up teaching my thirty minute lesson that is required of me for my Education class. It went well so I am happy :)

Welp.. That was my spring break :)

Classroom Observations

It is quite interesting what can go on in a classroom. Children can be so sweet, so innocent, so weird, so hilarious, so mean... The list goes on.. and on!!

For most of this semester, I've been convinced I wanted to teach a very young grade such as kindergarten, first or second grade. I think that might have changed a bit today. I observed a fifth grade class. It seemed like it was so much of what I would love to teach. I love English and Reading... This is the grade where the six traits of writing come into the grading world. This is where you learn the different reading techniques. Vocabulary and spelling come into play, Math becomes a bit more difficult. I don't know why, but I fell in love with this grade! It may change tomorrow but for today, fifth grade looks so fun! Tomorrow, I will look at a third grade class (actually will be my third grade teacher!!!), a sixth grade teacher (also MY sixth grade teacher), and the fifth grade class that I observed yesterday.

While you observe, you notice some weird things... For example, by the end of an hour, you will realize how annoying a pencil sharpener is and how similar it sounds to a dentists' drill. You will notice some boys find joy in slamming plastic babies into baskets during play time. Some children have completely packed and disorganize\ disgusting backpacks. Some are completely adorable and smile at you until you look at them.

A trend I have been noticing about every day that I have observations scheduled is that it always seems to be windy, rainy, etc. This would normally be okay... But... For an observation, I must wear a skirt. I have become very aware that this is an issue... The wind likes to take your skirt and fly it up in the air. Most annoying thing in the world :)

I've also had a few times where I receive tons of compliments from cute lil children. I love these times... They make me feel good. I also had to knock on the door for an observation and it was so funny the reaction I received. He kind of flew the door open and then realized who it was and said ... "oh.. SORRY!" and opened the door for me. It was really cute... Either I look like a teacher or he has been taught some very good manners :)

So... You may be wondering if this means that the question of nursing vs. education has been answered.... No... I wish that was the case. I am leaning more towards teaching today but I still want to browse the opportunities of nursing. I am thinking that I should take a class during the summer to be a certified nursing assistant and that would definitely help in my situation. I was talking to my Step Dad and he had another career in mind for me. He said he thinks I would enjoy a stenographer job... I think thats what its called... (the typer in a law case) This does sound fascinating because you would hear so many different law cases and you could choose to type for the ones that most interest you. He also said it would be good cause I would be going to school with Lawyers... SO basically I could marry one... Hmm not a bad idea!!! :)

My poor blog... It has been pushed aside for a month exactly... But I am back with news!!! From previous blogs, I had a bunch of questions.... Here they are with answers :)
1.) Ear Check up- SUCCESS!!! My eardrum is healed and I can go under water! Which I have done a lot recently. I've really enjoyed being able to swim and not worry about my ear :)
2.) 9K with the Sistas!! I survived and finished it without stopping. It was so fun to be able to run with my family. I hope I can do another run some time soon

.
3.) BYU: yes or no!? YES... Jennifer Lynn Curtis has been ACCEPTED to BYU Provo!!!! I am soooooooo excited to start school up there!!!

The only question that seems to remain unanswered is the following:

Hopefully it comes before I start school!!! But still... SO EXCITED :) Eac is awesome but I am definitely ready to begin my life up there!
